London has a major pest problem with birds and flying insects being the most notorious culprits. Pigeons can cause an enormous amount of damage to a building that if left unchecked, can lead to major health and safety issues and a huge bill to have repaired.
Pest birds can cause as many health hazards as rats and mice. Birds produce over thirty types of parasites and can internally host over seventy types of infectious diseases, which can easily be passed on to humans. Direct contamination from their faeces is one way that nesting birds tend to spread disease. Airborne spores from faeces can enter air ducts and vents to settle on food or water and transfer disease.
Many cases of salmonella every year are attributed to that route of transmission. Airborne particles from bird faeces can also contain dormant fungi and bacteria. If inhaled by humans, can result in mild to deadly internal infections. The parasites carried by pest birds are capable of transmitting hundreds of bacterial and viral agents, including encephalitis, meningitis, and plague to humans.
We supply and instal bird spikes to prevent unwanted bird infestations. There are a number of tactics and bird repellent products on the market including those that emit ultrasonic sound.
Other solutions including pigeon traps do not necessarily fix ongoing problems, as the simple physical act of pigeon removal will not necessarily make the problem go away. In fact it may simply produce unnecessary distress to animals, particularly if used by untrained pest control agents.
Bird spikes on the other hand are a humane and effective way to deter bird such as pigeons. There are many ways to get rid of pigeons, but we find pigeon spikes to be one of the most successful.

Birds and flying Insects within the home are not just a nuisance, some flies such as bluebottles and house flies can contaminate foodstuffs. Many moths like the brown house moth and the common clothes moth can destroy many fabrics, including wool and leather. Other insect pests such as wasps can be a particular problem to those who are more sensitive or have an allergic reaction to stings.
Bluebottles are commonly found in the warmer months. An abundance of numbers would indicate an underlying problem that a good survey will uncover with a treatment to follow. Maggots or larvae casings will often be present.
Drain Flies would indicate a problem with decaying matter that the flies are feeding on. The source will need to be found and dealt with.
Fruit Flies are found in many kitchens and restaurants. They can be found in large numbers and would indicate a hygiene or drainage problem.
